The old adage, “there are as many opinions as a******s” may or may not be true, but there is certainly a plentiful supply of those who value their thoughts so much that profanity seems needed to drive their points home.
Of course, all ‘points’ lead North this year. The uproar over an alleged “brandishing’ of a gun by Grand Traverse County Commission member Ron Clous clearly eclipses the act itself.
Clous, in an random and quickly abandoned thought of using a firearm as a prop in a 2nd amendment argument became a topic that caught fire nationally. Not because the caller who had no idea the gun was on screen for the 4 seconds as she railed on about Guns and the Proud Boys, but because someone contacted her, and suggested she be outraged that he would do such a thing.
Her stated reason to be fearful of Grandpa-with-a-gun on a video (link provided starts early in commentary for perspective) that she didn’t see until later, then became the basis for her claims that people were threatening her. Otherwise the local media, always looking for the next scandal produced a screen capture to depict commissioner Clous in just such a way that it looked like he was carrying on and throwing down a “from my dead hands” moment.
Not to be outdone by the soy ink narrative sellers, one of the ‘community organizers’ on the board quickly amassed the local on-call outrage ready reserve. This is the group that utilizes any manufactured crisis to advance leftist causes. Often the members of this complaint producing posse have no idea of why they are writing, why they call, or what the nuances of any situation truly are.
The ‘public’ demands your resignation, but has not taken the time to actually watch, or even educate themselves on the issue. They use profanity and act as though they have been personally aggrieved, yet rely on a media portrayal of an event to determine if their feelings are truly hurt.
This is the story of the new citizen. That brave warrior for the left who has little to do but react ..but only when told it is time to do so.
In the coming days, you will see what such knowledge and power produces. We have obtained emails sent to the Grand Traverse County Commissioners which deride the brief horror of Commissioner Clous’ having the nerve to expose himself as a gun owner and proud US Constitution supporter.
Prepare yourselves to be astounded, to be amazed, ..or maybe to find outright disappointment for your fellow man.
