Email – Part I

The emails published in the next several weeks are real. They are the product of anger, hatred, misunderstanding, confusion, partisanship, or perhaps even a little insanity. I will produce them as completely as is possible, and in no particular order, and no names will be used. This introduction will accompany each post.

Hyperbole is defined as a noun – “Rhetoric.” an obvious and intentional exaggeration.an extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally. The following communications to the board of commissioners certainly provides examples of such, ..and maybe a little more.

One writer is sickened about “extremist right wingers” running the county. Delivered Fri, 29 Jan 2021 13:41:06 +0000 (UTC)

It’s sickening these extremist right wingers are still being allowed to make any decisions for our county. Based on your meeting yesterday and the outcry from around the world, they do not have support for their actions. They clearly only care about the second amendment and damn the rest of the constitution. How many times in interviews did Hentschel say what Clous did was okay and people were crazy for having a problem with it? They didn’t learn anything and they still believe those insane actions from Clous were okay. They cannot be trusted to make unbiased decisions based on what is best for our community. They only want to further the extremist conservative agenda. They need to resign in order for our community to move forward. Who knows what Clous will do next? Bring a handgun to real meeting? Point it at someone who doesn’t agree with his friends the Proud Boys? Clous and Hentschel are the exact types of men who stormed our nation’s capitol in an attempt to overthrow a constitutional process. They are the types who believe they’re entitled to their positions. They obviously do not understand they are PUBLIC SERVANTS. They cannot be trusted to make any decisions with a clear head. They must resign now for the good of our community.

“Extremist” on its own is clearly overreacting to the 4 seconds of notoriety Ron Clous earned, but the “outcry from around the world” part is laughable. It’s hard to tell if this writer actually believes it or simply following a script given by organizers of this latest targeting of conservative politicians.

The language following defines this person’s political leanings definitively, citing conservative agenda and Proud boys and the January 6 false flag operation as proof that these two ‘rogue commissioners’ must be bad public servants, as “they are exact types” of those bad guys! Maybe Clous SHOULD bring a handgun to a real meeting (her other concern), as it is completely legal, and has precedent.

The manufactured outrage and evidence of low information upbringing would be laughable, but this is not isolated to this one author. And apparently not to Democrats alone.

Subject: Please pass along to the board

The old saying that "Ignorance is bliss" may be true to some degree, but not when it comes to those that represent a country, state or city. We do apparently have several very blissful members on the Grand Traverse County Commission. That's actually too kind of a statement. We actually have several members that are more like The Three Stooges: Ron, Rob and Brad. Their moronic behavior is quite spectacular.
RON CLOUS: Stooge Number 1. Obviously an extremely ignorant man. What would possess anyone to put their gun on display during a board meeting, whether it be virtual or in person? The answer is simple. A VERY STUPID MAN! He is too ignorant to believe that it was the wrong thing to do.
ROB HENTSCHEL: Stooge Number 2. Per his statements in the Record Eagle, he found Clous's behavior to be funny. He thinks the Proud Boys are a fine bunch of fellows. He obviously has never undertaken any fact finding to find out what they actually believe in or their status defined by the FBI. Probably got all his information on Twitter. Rob's stupidity goes a step further when he tries to politicize Clous's behavior and blame those damn liberals. No, Rob, it's just people with common sense versus those who completely lack common sense.
BRAD JEWETT: Stooge Number 3: Screw the masks; it's every man and woman for themselves. We don't need no stinkin' rules. Obviously he does not understand the power of the State. The Board cannot supersede orders from our governor because they don't like them If businesses follow along with Brad's beliefs, the merchants may be fined, have liquor licenses suspended and worse. Brad begs for more benefits at the taxpayers expense. Sorry, Three Stooges, you're overpaid as it is.

 Sincerely,
 xxxxxx xxxxxxx
And, Rob, no I'm not a liberal! I voted Republican for 50 years until this last election. And I enjoy my guns greatly. I've owned at least a hundred guns over the years. And, Ron, no I've never acted with your ignorance and tried to show off with my guns. I was successfully self-employed for 30 years and never insulted the people that I worked
for.

Liar. Not just an overreacting #TDS sufferer. I cannot imagine a person owning “at least a hundred guns over the years” and not being a bit of a gun nut and at the very least an unabashed 2A supporter; one that would likely be on an FBI watch list himself.

His respect for “the power of the state” belies his own political claims. In his targeting of specifically ‘Republican’ board members (sans the one who authored a censure resolution, and the ‘woman’ Republican), his screed screams out as one penned by soy latte fed liberal biases. If he has lived here for all the time that he claims to have been voting, it would explain his voting for Republicans for that time, considering up till about 2016 the only choices that weren’t outright insane were the Republicans. (And that isn’t saying much given some of the liberal R’s we’ve seen in the past couple of decades.)

In any event, if he was even a Milliken Republican it might only so much, up to the point where Milliken was actually a decent human being, .. who didn’t feel it necessary to insult as gratuitously as this writer.

Until the next batch.
