Dots

As readers have seen in the last few days, folks get a little upset when they see a gun in real life. “Irrationally upset” might be a better term for it. It’s unfortunate, but so many have to engage in a way that is both provocative, and ..maybe a little disturbing. Profane, non-constructive, and often abusive responses highlight the emotional cacophony that this community can produce when unreasonably inspired.

We are all blessed with opinions, and some are more or less informed. We also are blessed with the ability to express those opinions, something protected by the design of the Republic in which we live. One letter writer however, in responding to the recent manufactured outrage, took it a little too far.

Likely this was produced as a ‘troll’ of the current situation. However, it does little to quiet the situation, or provide a sense of peace in a situation already overblown.

It does however, reveal the bipolar nature of the left, which decries non violent gestures with absolutes and rabid language. But in this case, a suggestion that violence is OK, as long as it is inflicted on the right innocent person.

And of course none of this would ever have reach such a crescendo of ridiculousness, but for the non stop partisan undercutting of the board by one of the minority members who sees no other way to accomplish her political ends. The person who refuses to be seen in the official Zoom calls, while organizing ‘resist’ operations to the Republican control of the County board behind the scenes is hardly camera shy however.

She has no problem showing her face when organizing defund efforts for her political enemies. One of those being General Jack Bergman, the first district congressman who has flummoxed her from the start. Seen yelling at the Republican representative to the 1st district in airport settings, and then during a townhall at the college a couple years ago, when she yelled out “grab him by the p***y!”

A class act. And frankly, what is likely driving the effort to destabilize the county commission. What might we expect from someone who was arrested not just once, but what appears to be TWICE in our nation’s capitol?

I would stop short of demanding the resignation of this particular instigator. She represents her district well enough, yes? Clearly the Peninsula, and a couple of the city precincts that make her district find her to the upstanding role model they would design their children to ..emulate?

But we must be careful in how we represent the facts, and the emotions we cultivate when offering our organizing skills to one side or the other, right? Somehow it seems that one side of the political spectrum, while couching their ‘ethical’ arguments as being the ‘adults’ in the room, loses all sense of maturity when actually engaged in real life.

Elections have consequences. But it should never be in such a way that legitimately (not the faux crisis of late) puts people at risk from those who have mental instability or a level of maturity retarded by today’s narrative sellers.

Period.
